Indian Embassies abroad are issuing NATIONALITY cards
to such persons of Indian origin, to establish their identity
and link to India. These cards are known as PIO (Person
of Indian Origin) cards, who can buy properties in India.
For the purpose of investments in immovable properties
in India, a foreign citizen (other than a citizen of Pakistan,
Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka or Nepal),
is deemed to be of Indian origin if, (1) he/she held an
Indian passport at any time, or (2) he/she or his/her
father or paternal grand-father was a citizen of India
by virtue of the Constitution of India. |
